The former Iraqi embassy to East Germany has been abandoned since 1991, the start of the first Gulf War and the Reunification of Germany. The land still belongs to the German government, but the republic of Iraq still has the use of the property, which has stood empty since they left. With Arabic paperwork, including completed VISA applications scattered across the floor, most of the windows smashed and the building in a terrible state of repair, it is questionable how much longer this will remain. Thanks to Will S. for allowing me to use some of his photos in this post.
